There are very old trees in Juanita Heights Park. I have yet to authenticate the age of trees beyond anticdotal comments. It does appear though that some of the Douglas Firs and perhaps some Western Red Cedars are at least 150 years old. Comments from EarthCorp workers indicate that while Puget Sound was logged almost completely 150 years ago in the mid 1930s, that there were some trees perhaps not worth the loggers’ time or the hillside was too steep to log. Juanita Heights Park on the Eastside is very steep. Here are some of the larger trees in the park. Bonus – our Owl in the park!
