Mapping the Park

Mapping JH Park2On Friday, Dec 7th, Nelson Salisbury from EarthCorps Science along with Sharon Rodman, Education & Outreach Specialist of Green Kirkland Partnership and Ina Penberthy, Intern at Green Kirkland Partnership arrived in the park to Map for restoration and rehabilitation. Soon there will be a map of Juanita Heights Park with designated restoration areas.  The mapping enables the city to record systematically the work completed in the park.  The data has multiple purposes. One of them is to apply for grants that help support the Green Kirkland Partnership efforts. Nelson pointed out a Pacific Dogwood. Ina pointed out Swamp gooseberry also known as black goodeberry or prickly currant Ribes lacustre; also  Dewey sedge Carex deweyana and finally Small-flowered bulrush Scirpus.
